What is offset printing?

In offset printing, the ink passes from plates to a rubber blanket cylinder and from there onto the paper. Making the plates and setting up the press takes a fixed amount of time, so offset pays off above a certain quantity: the more copies, the lower the cost per unit.

It also lets you print with spot colours (such as Pantone colours) and on a wide range of papers. For small quantities, digital printing is usually the more practical option.

Benefits of offset printing

Lower cost per unit

The longer the run, the more widely the set-up cost is spread.

Consistent colour

The first copy and the last come out the same.
