Finishing and binding
The finish decides how a printed piece looks, how it feels and how long it lasts. We’ll help you choose the right one.
Types of finish
[PENDIENTE: confirmar acabados disponibles y cuáles se hacen en taller propio]
Lamination
A matt or gloss film that protects your print from scuffs and moisture. Common on cards, covers and restaurant menus.
Varnish
Adds shine or protection to the whole sheet or just to selected areas (spot UV), which stand out to the eye and to the touch.
Die-cutting
Cuts your print to a custom shape: rounded corners, packaging, labels or display stands.
Folding and creasing
Bi-folds, tri-folds and other folded leaflets. Creasing presses a fold line into thick paper so it folds without cracking.
Binding
Saddle stitching, spiral or wire-o, perfect binding and hardback, depending on the number of pages and how it will be used.
Cutting, perforating and numbering
For receipt books, tickets, vouchers and notepads.
What is print finishing?
It’s the work done after printing: cutting, folding, binding, protecting with lamination or varnish, and die-cutting to shape.
Good finishing isn’t just about looks. It helps a business card survive in a wallet, a catalogue open properly and a restaurant menu stand up to daily use.
Why the finish matters
Protects
Fewer scuffs, stains and dog-eared corners.
Gets noticed
A special texture or sheen makes your print stand out.
Works better
Folds, perforations and numbering make your print more practical.
Arrives ready
Printing and finishing in the same order.
Frequently asked questions about finishing
Which binding is right for me?
It depends on the number of pages and how it will be used. Saddle stitching works well for magazines and brochures with only a few pages; spiral or wire-o if the document needs to open flat; perfect binding for books and catalogues with more pages; and hardback for editions that need to last. We’ll advise you when you ask for a quote.
Matt or gloss lamination?
Matt is understated and doesn’t reflect the light; gloss brings out the colours. Both protect against scuffs.
